Navigating an Upper Respiratory Infection: 

If you’re feeling under the weather, it’s a good idea to schedule a sick visit when you notice any of the following symptoms:

• Fevers
• Chills
• Shortness of breath
• Sore throat, difficulty swallowing

What is the most common cause of Upper Respiratory Infections?

Although the most common cause of sore throat is viral, need to ensure there is not another cause. Further evaluation with in-office testing will rule out other causes such as strep throat. While most Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs) are self-limiting and resolve independently with rest and home remedies, such as staying hydrated, getting plenty of sleep, and using over-the-counter medications to manage symptoms like fever and congestion, some URIs may require medical attention.
