Pre-Surgical Clearance

Why do I need a pre-surgical clearance?

It provides your surgeon and anesthesiology team with essential information about your health, so they can customize your care to fit your unique needs. Plus, if there are any potential issues that could make your surgery more complicated or cause delays, they can catch those early on. This way, any health concerns can be addressed before the big day, ensuring you have the safest and smoothest operation possible.

What information should I bring to by pre-operative clearance?

  •       Name of surgeon
  •       Date of surgery
  •       What is the surgery
  •       Labs/Imaging needed for the pre-operative clearance
  •       Updated list of your medications

What occurs in a pre-surgical Clearance?

  • Measure your height, weight and vital signs.
  • Review your medication list, with recommendations for how to take your medications prior to surgery.
  • Review your medical, surgical and family history.
  • Include a physical exam.
  • If necessary, complete additional preoperative testing following your exam, including blood tests, urine tests, X-rays or an EKG.

At Anna Health Family Medicine, we’re excited to help make your pre-surgical clearance process as smooth and easy as possible for you!
